Our NEW Cattery is NOW OPEN at the Bastrop County Animal Shelter!

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the
Friends of the Bastrop County Animal Shelter,
the shelter officially opened its new Cattery
on June 30th, 2012.

The cattery is dedicated in loving memory of all Bastrop County pets lost in the wildfires.

We would like to thank these companies for their help:

Chase McDonald – Finishing

     Copeland Heating & Air

Duncan Electric

Gene Powell –Plumbing

Sturdi-Bilt Buildings

Rather than be locked in steel cages, terrified and alone, the cats will now be placed with a social group and have a “homelike” environment to chill out.  Their unique personalities will be able to shine through to potential adopters as they interact in a more normal way. This Cattery with its areas dedicated to the care, comfort, and adoption of the cats is a huge step forward in the lives of cats who find themselves housed at the shelter.

It has taken three years to bring the vision of BCAS Cattery into reality. The final cost will exceed $30,000 when completed. This cattery was made possible, through generous donations from the Bastrop community. The building was paid for in full by money raised by Friends through donations, bake sales, auctions and fundraising events like their annual Hearts for Paws event.
